the real world
Haven't updated in a LONG time.... don't have many followers though so I'm sure it hasn't mattered all that much :) But moving on - wow we have so much that has happened lately. So here we go.
1. I am officially (signed the contract and everything!) a high school biology teacher. Can you believe it?!?!?!? I am teaching 9th/10th mixed classes for Biology I at Cypress Falls High School -- green and gold -- GO EAGLES! First day of school is August 23rd. First day of work is August 16th.... yes our two year anniversary :( oh well. But I got my keys to my room and I'm starting to decorate it with the help of my very talented mother-in-law :) Much thanks! I am getting nervous as the time creeps closer but I am also very anxious and excited for this new chapter to begin.
2. On Friday, August 6th, we are moving into our apartment! Yay! No more nomadic living... or in other words living out of suitcases. We are living in some apartmetns called Lakeview Lofts which are just down the street from James' parents house. Our apartments are literally right next to James' school and it's only about a 10 minute drive to my school so hopefully we can keep our gas bills down this next year! Thanks to Brian and Mel and the in-laws for letting us stay with them over these last what.... 8 months! We couldn't have made it without them. What the heck would we do without family?? But we am very excited to have our own place again and although that means more chores: grocery shopping, a lot more cleaning, lots more dish washing/putting away, etc. --- I can't wait!
3. We are slowly but surely adapting to Texas heat and boy oh boy is it a killer. I haven't experienced this amount of sweating before... ever in my life! Who knew you sweat so much??!?! It's absolutely crazy. But I have survived so far and James, I'm happy to say, is still alive too.
4. James is chugging away at school again. Police didn't work out in Vegas and we are on a new path in our lives: Physicians' Assistant. James is taking his prerequisites at the community college here in town and he's doing awesome. He is also studying to take the GRE which he takes on August 24th... so keep him in your prayers :) He's very busy with all his school work and studying but he's holding up alright so far. He will be applying to the programs in October and will hopefully be able to start next June is he gets in the first time. This PA path is definitely challenging our faith because it's been a hard road already but we trust the Lord and are trying to keep our shoulder to the wheel (with the most positive attitudes we can muster haha).
So yes our lives have been a little crazy lately and they are about to get even more insane.... Yippee :)
